Amazing relaxing break

A beautiful house that was the childhood home of Florence Nightingale in a very scenic setting . Peter and Jen made you feel very welcomed and went above and beyond to make my stay perfect. I would highly recommend Lea Hurst . I definitely would revisit.

Outstanding stay in a beautiful historic home

We had a wonderful stay at Lea Hurst. Peter and Jen are exceptional hosts and we felt so warmly welcome from the moment we arrived. The breakfast was delicious and it was a pleasure to enjoy each morning with views of the gardens and the rolling fields. Peter shared some excellent recommendations for walks, places of interest and restaurants in the local area. The house is beautifully maintained and feels in keeping with its history. We especially enjoyed evenings relaxing and reading by the fireplace.

Relaxing stay and can't wait to visit again!

Amazingly peaceful location set in beautiful countryside, hosts were very welcoming and service was outstanding. The property and bedrooms were immaculate and luxurious. Upon arrival Peter gave us a detailed explantion of the history of the house which was extremely interesting. Breakfast was superb, and we all enjoyed a complimentary glass of wine and nibbles on the balcony one evening and tea and biscuits the next. I very much look forward to staying again in the future!

Fantastic and exceptionally stay

Excellent and amazing two night stay in what was the summer home of Florence Nightingale. With its stunning views the house and gardens have been lovingly restored to its former Victorian glory. The stay was made even more exceptional by the hosts, Peter and Jen, who are so thoughtful, friendly and helpful. Making us feel like family rather than welcome guests in their wonderful home. This was a surprise by my husband to replace our missed anniversary trip in May, best surprise ever.

Above and beyond

This may be the most beautiful hotel we have ever stayed at!
The property has been renovated with impeccable taste and, importantly, utmost respect for its background and historical significance. Thanks to the hotel owner Peter we learned a lot about Florence Nightingale's life and achievements - it's wonderful that her story is still being told! The room was large, very comfortable and absolutely spotless. The garden is gorgeous - and the little fountain is just mesmerising.
Peter could not be a more gracious host, he made us feel at home immediately, and had some excellent restaurant and walk suggestions.
Lavish breakfast with a view of surrounding fields deserves a special mention - I think I was still full a week later!

We had a wonderful time

Peter and Jen made us feel extremely welcome and relaxed in their stunning home. We were unfamiliar with the area but Peter had plenty of advice and went out of his way to make our stay as nice as possible. The bedroom was very comfortable and the shower was amazing. The building itself is hugely impressive - whilst the grounds and surrounding areas and views are beautiful. Breakfast was lovely and prepared to order at a time that suited us. In terms of nearby places of interest, Chatsworth House and the village of Bakewell are nice, picturesque 30 mins drives away - with a number of nice pubs and restaurants also fairly nearby.

Attention to detail and personal care are astounding!

A much needed short break after the 'government lock-down'. A wonderful area to explore, even when tourist attractions are 'closed'. Lovely gardens to explore. A wonderful, historic retreat atmosphere, with no TV's in sight (lots of WiFi if you must stream your 'News' fix to your laptop or phone)!

Perfect & relaxing historic house in the countryside

Peter & his wife are wonderful hosts. The restoration of this house has been finished beautifully. The garden is absolutely stunning, we had wine & cheese there till later on in the evening. There is a good wine list for people to pick a bottle to enjoy in the grounds. The bedroom was spotless, and the bed incredibly comfortable. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious! We will be back!!

This Victorian house is simply breathtaking.

My family and I stayed for two nights to celebrate my wife's birthday. It was a short getaway from London.
